Heritage Program Funding – Apply Now!

FPCC’s Heritage Program is now accepting applications for projects focused on revitalizing First Nations’ heritage and arts in B.C. 

The Heritage Program supports the revitalization and safeguarding of B.C. First Nations cultural heritage through funding, resources, programs and by providing opportunities that bring people together to share knowledge. FPCC is now accepting applications for cultural heritage funding in two program areas. 

Descriptions of each current funding opportunity are listed below. Please visit each program page for more information on eligibility, how to apply, access the guidelines and to watch the information session.

Current Heritage Funding Opportunities: 

Heritage Stewardship Program (HSP)

Provides support for B.C. First Nations to be the stewards of, and experts on, their own heritage. Applicants may apply for up to three of the four priority area listed below in one application. Funding is provided up to a maximum of $25,000 per area. 

Sense of Place – up to $25,000 to safeguard sensitive and significant cultural landscapes, places and sites through activities that offer mentorship and skills development.

Climate Change – up to $25,000 to explore how communities are experiencing and responding to climate change. 

Oral History and Protocols – up to $25,000 to contribute to documenting First Nations laws, protocols and ways of knowing and engage Elders and Knowledge Keepers in sharing their stories.

Digitization and Archiving – up to $25,000 to digitize or archive existing heritage records. 

Applications will be accepted for HSP until May 23, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. (PT). 

Braided Infrastructure Program (BIP)

Provides up to $70,000 in funding to support B.C. First Nations efforts to develop an infrastructure project that braids together arts, culture, heritage and language.   

The Braided Infrastructure Program will fund projects that implement a broad range of infrastructure projects that conserve, repair or develop B.C. First Nations’ cultural infrastructure. 

Applications will be accepted for BIP until May 26, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. (PT).

Eligibility
FPCC respects the rights of all First Nations to deliver services to their communities. To align with this, FPCC funding guidelines require that at least 75% of an organization’s board members/directors be individuals who are members of or have ancestral connections to a B.C. First Nation.

How to Apply 
FPCC Heritage Program applications will be submitted on the FPCC Grant Portal.  

For more information about each program, how to apply , and to read the guidelines and watch the information sessions, please click on each program name above. 

 FPCC Heritage applications take time to complete. We recommend starting the application as soon as possible to gather the required information and materials. Significant reading and writing are required throughout the application process, along with seeking support letters.   

Starting early will also give you time to reach out to staff if you need assistance. Contact information is at the bottom of this page.
