FPCC Annual Report 2024-25

December 16, 2025

We are pleased to share with you the First Peoples’ Cultural Council’s (FPCC) Year in Review 2024-25. This annual report details our cultural revitalization activities over the past year and celebrates the hard work and dedication of the people, communities and organizations we work with.

This report includes summaries of FPCC programs and plans for the coming year, along with photos and quotes from project participants. Additional community photos are included in the Year in Review video posted below.

FPCC Highlights 2024-25

“As we begin our 35th year of operations, the First Peoples’ Cultural Council (FPCC) is inspired by the brilliance and perseverance of B.C. First Nations community members. Over the last several decades, we have seen a significant shift from the disruption of our languages and ways of being, to B.C. First Nations being recognized as leaders and experts in revitalizing our languages, arts, heritage and cultures. FPCC is honoured to serve as a supporting partner to advance this important work.” – Tracey Herbert, CEO, FPCC.

  • Guided by First Nations Knowledge Keepers, leaders and communities, this year FPCC delivered over $30 million in grants to support the revitalization of First Nations languages, arts and cultural heritage.
  • After years of advocacy efforts, we achieved a significant milestone by securing ongoing permanent funding from the provincial government for the first time.
  • Starting in 2025, FPCC will receive $15 million every year from the Government of British Columbia, including $12 million for language revitalization.
  • Additional funding is needed to adequately invest in language, arts and heritage revitalization in B.C. and we will continue to advocate for this essential funding.

Language Program Highlights 2024-25

“Coming here made me fell the power in how many different languages you hear in this language program. It really made me see how truly beautiful it is when people speak their native tongue.”
– Brian Lacerte, Mentor-Apprentice Program participant, Lake Babine Nation.

  • Delivered over $15.1 million in language revitalization grants
  • Supported 9,126 people involved in language programs
  • Funded 3,679 people to engage in language immersion activities
  • Hosted FPCC’s first Online Learning Series

Arts Program Highlights 2024-25

“Through workshops and small group sessions, our weavers created original works, resurfaced nearly lost language, forged stronger interpersonal bonds and advanced their capacity to lead the resurgence of traditional Coast Salish lifeways.” – Salia Joseph, Snìchim  Foundation Founder.

  • Delivered over $4.5 million to support B.C. First Nations artists, musicians and creatives across the province.
  • Funded 177 arts grant applications
  • Supported 3,227 people involved in arts projects
  • Hosted 157 participants in arts events, workshops and trainings, including an Arts Retreat

Heritage Program Highlights 2024-25

“This project helped build cultural pride, strengthened students’ connection to their heritage and brought communities across Nisga’a Valley cloer together.” – Cultural Practices Grant recipient, Gingolx Village Government / Nathan Barton Elementary School.
