FPCC Highlights 2024-25
“As we begin our 35th year of operations, the First Peoples’ Cultural Council (FPCC) is inspired by the brilliance and perseverance of B.C. First Nations community members. Over the last several decades, we have seen a significant shift from the disruption of our languages and ways of being, to B.C. First Nations being recognized as leaders and experts in revitalizing our languages, arts, heritage and cultures. FPCC is honoured to serve as a supporting partner to advance this important work.” – Tracey Herbert, CEO, FPCC.
- Guided by First Nations Knowledge Keepers, leaders and communities, this year FPCC delivered over $30 million in grants to support the revitalization of First Nations languages, arts and cultural heritage.
- After years of advocacy efforts, we achieved a significant milestone by securing ongoing permanent funding from the provincial government for the first time.
- Starting in 2025, FPCC will receive $15 million every year from the Government of British Columbia, including $12 million for language revitalization.
- Additional funding is needed to adequately invest in language, arts and heritage revitalization in B.C. and we will continue to advocate for this essential funding.
