Truth & Reconciliation Events Happening in B.C.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is September 30th, 2025.

At FPCC, we honour all Indigenous residential and day school survivors. We stand by those who continue to advocate for justice, truth, accountability and reconciliation. 

Events are important opportunities for communities, survivors and family members to reflect and to heal together. We encourage all advocates and allies to show your support by taking part in events happening in your region.

    • Date and Time: September 30, 2025 at 11:00 am
    • Event details: Songhees First Nation Powwow at the Royal Athletic Park. Grand entries are set for 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm

    • Date and time: September 30 from 1:00 to 2:30pm and 3:00 to 4:30 pm
    • Event details: Participate in this free event that focuses on building a better community through art with Indigenous artists and educators Christine Mackenzie and Nova Weipert. Registration is required

    • Event details: (Un)learn with Kelowna Museums. Free, all-ages, guided and self-guided stations will help you learn about the history and culture of the Syilx people.

    • Event details: The All Nations Lax Kxeen Society in Prince Rupert will host several Truth and Reconciliation events throughout September

    • Event details: This event honours National Day for Truth and Reconciliation while also celebrating the 17th Anniversary of the Haida Heritage Centre

If you are unable to attend an event but would like to support the revitalization of First Nations languages, arts and heritage in B.C., consider supporting the First Peoples’ Cultural Foundation. The Foundation is an Indigenous-led registered charity that provides funds for some of our programs and initiatives. 100% of their donors’ contributions go towards FPCC programming to support B.C.   • 24-hour Residential School Crisis Line 1 (866) 925-4419
  • Indian Residential School Survivors Society provides access to counselling and cultural support for survivors and their families in B.C. Call toll-free 1 (800) 721-0066 or visit www.irsss.ca 
  • Hope for Wellness Hotline provides mental health counselling and crisis support at 1 (855) 242-3310 and via online chat at www.hopeforwellness.ca 
  • KUU-US Crisis Line Society provides a 24-hour, province-wide Indigenous crisis line for Indigenous peoples in B.C. Adults please call 1 (250) 723-4050 . Children and youth please call 1 (250) 723-2040 . Toll-free: 1 (800) 588-8717
  • Tsow-Tun-Le-Lum for Indigenous peoples in B.C. at 1 (888) 403-3123
  • Additional supports are available through the First Nations Health Authority here.
