The First Peoples’ Cultural Council and the First Peoples’ Cultural Foundation have released a joint statement on residential schools urging increased government support for First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities as we grieve the discoveries of unmarked graves across Canada.
“The Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action articles 71-76 list the actions to address missing children and burials at residential schools. We urge federal and provincial governments to implement all of these recommendations immediately and address the concerns and needs of First Nations by increasing their support with resources and funding as this work continues.”
