FPCC is now accepting applications for heritage funding to support community-led projects that revitalize B.C. First Nations cultural heritage
The Heritage Vitality Program supports the revitalization and safeguarding of B.C. First Nations cultural heritage through funding, resources and by providing opportunities that bring people together to share knowledge.
Three different funding streams are currently being offered – Cultural Practices, Heritage Stewardship and Braided Infrastructure. Each stream has its own objective, funding amount and application.
Things to Know About Applying this Year
We’ve brought together all Heritage Program funding information, resources and guidance into a single, easy-to-navigate location.
We’ve also streamlined funding opportunities by combining several grants to reduce the administrative burden on applicants. Cultural Practices and Braided Knowledge are now offered under Cultural Practices, while Braided Infrastructure and Arts Infrastructure – Community Art Spaces are now offered under Braided Infrastructure.
Visit the Heritage Vitality Program page to learn about eligibility, access the funding guide and watch a recorded information video to get started.
The application deadline is November 25, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. PCT
Heritage Vitality Program Funding Streams
Cultural Practices – $20,000 to $50,000
Cultural Practices supports B.C. First Nations’ projects that focus on planning, carrying out and documenting community-based cultural practices and events. These may include cultural practices that have been continuously carried out over generations, as well as “sleeping” practices that a community intends to reawaken.
All Cultural Practices projects must include a mentorship component that supports the transfer of cultural knowledge and practical skills from Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and other mentors, which may include fluent speakers and artists, to youth and other community members.

Heritage Stewardship – up to $75,000 (Eligible for $25,000 per selected priority area, up to 3)
Heritage Stewardship supports B.C. First Nations’ projects that focus on long-term stewardship and revitalization of their culture and heritage through mobilization, documentation and organization of knowledge. It supports four priority areas that represent different stewardship approaches: Sense of Place, Climate Change, Oral Histories and Protocols, and Digitization and Archiving.

Braided Infrastructure – up to $100,000
Braided Infrastructure is led by the FPCC Heritage and Arts Programs. Braided Infrastructure supports B.C. First Nations’ efforts to develop infrastructure projects that braid together arts, culture, heritage and the values and teachings as understood through B.C. First Nations languages. It funds a broad range of infrastructure projects that conserve, repair or develop B.C. First Nations’ cultural heritage and arts infrastructure.
