The First Peoples’ Cultural Council’s Youth Empowered Speakers Program provides up to $29,550 for tuition, expenses and mentorship to develop future language immersion teachers!
Are you a B.C. First Nations student age 18-30 who is interested in learning your language while working towards a rewarding career as a language immersion teacher or early childhood immersion educator? If so, FPCC wants to encourage you to apply for the Youth Empowered Speakers Program (YES).
This program provides funding for post-secondary tuition, living expenses and mentor-apprentice language learning! It also includes paid work internships to support work experience development.

All I want for our kids is for them to have that identity and be able to talk to other speakers and know that those connections are there. I hear the kids speaking “k̓i! Kwak’wala” and so they are reminding each other to speak in the language and that’s huge for me. – Hiʔliqilaʔgelis Natasha Green, Mentor Apprentice Program graduate and Manager/ Principal of Kwanwatsi Language Nest.
