Brian Maracle
Workshop: Creating Speakers, Reviving Languages
Bio: Brian Maracle was a co-founder and the principal instructor of Onkwawenna Kentyohkwa for 20 years on the Six Nations Grand River Territory in Ontario. He developed a root-word method of teaching the Mohawk language in a full-time adult immersion program. The two-year program has created dozens of highly proficient speakers and has had a major impact in reviving the Mohawk language at Six Nations and other Mohawk communities.
